TYPE OF LICENSES

What is the difference between the 12-month subscription and the Lifetime?

After 12 months, the subscription license will expire and therefore will no longer be usable until the subscription is renewed. In the case of a Lifetime license after the same period of time, the software will work but will not receive further updates that will become available (for a further 12 months) by purchasing the Update licenses.

I am a student, is there a version for me?

Yes, the Educational Pro license. In this case, the student will have to prove his attendance to an institution / department / school with documentation. More information HERE

I am a teacher, can I provide my students with the software?

Yes, the Educational Pro license at advantageous conditions. Additional benefits if the institute / department / school decides to sign an agreement with Irriworks. More information HERE

PURCHASE LICENSE

Once I have purchased the license, how will I receive and use the software?

Once the purchase has been made, you will receive (within a few minutes) an email with the serial code and the link where to download the executable file. After installing the application on your pc, you can be entered the serial code to activate it: after restarting the application will be ready for use. How / where can I purchase software licenses?

Through the e-commerce platform of our site (payment by credit / debit cards, with third party services (Paypal), by bank transfer) or through authorized resellers. Finally, during the trade fairs where Irriworks will be present and where to make the purchase directly in its stand.

I have purchased a license for a smaller plant size than I need. Can I upgrade to a license for larger plants? At what cost?

Yes, it is possible. To obtain the new license, you only need to pay the difference (for licenses used for a few months). In other cases, the time of use will also be considered.

Is the software only available with a Lifetime license?

Not only that, the 12-month subscription license is available too.

What operating systems can I install the software on?

On Windows systems (starting from Windows 7) and MAC OS

How to install the software on the pc and use the purchased license?

Once the license has been purchased, an email will be sent with a serial code and a link where to download the executable file. Install the file and then perform the activation procedure using the serial code. For more information on activation HERE

How do I install the software on a MAC computer?

To install it follow the steps below:

  • Open the dmg file downloaded from our site
  • A window will be shown two icons: one related to the software and the other related to the "Application" folder
  • Drag the Software icon over the "Application" icon (keeping the Software icon clicked until it moves over the icon on the right)
  • double click on the Software icon in the folder where are the applications
  • Software should start correctly.

What technical features must the pc have to install and use the software?

As software requirements you can install the application on 32-bit (executable on request) and 64-bit operating systems, from MS Windows 7 up to MS Windows 11. For Apple operating systems it can be installed up to macOS 11.0 (Big Sur ).
As minimum hardware requirements the pc must have:

  • Intel® i3
  • 4 Gb RAM or more
  • hard disk
  • 1,024 x 768 VGA display

The recommended hardware configuration is:

  • Intel® i7 last version (or i9)
  • 16 Gb RAM (or 32 Gb)
  • SSD disk (or M2.SSD)
  • Monitor Full HD

How many languages is the software available in?

Currently in Italian, English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Russian, Ukrainian.

Can I install a version older than the latest available?

Yes, you need to go to your account and look for the item "previous versions" in the menu.

How many times can I activate a license?

You can install a single license on (at most) 3 PCS of an user but, with a single license, you can’t use the license on two PCS in the same time. In other words you could install and activate the software on a desktop at home, in office and on a laptop (up to 3 PCs). If you active more than 3 PCs with the same license, it will be blocked by our servers. If you need of installing Software on more than 3 PCs we suggest to purchase more licenses.

DEMO VERSION OF THE SOFTWARE

How can I get to try the software before purchasing it?

It is possible to request a demonstration session for free and without any purchase commitment. Once requested (you can do it by filling out the form HERE or HERE) a date and time for the session will be proposed and a demo license will be sent. A different date may be agreed according to your needs and the availability of the operator.

What is the demonstration session?

Demonstration service (distance learning through tools like Teamviewer) with coaching in some sample projects (proposed by Irriworks) directly on your PC by using a remote assistance software (such as Teamviewer). The service duration is between 20 minutes and 1 hours. Training language: English or Italian.

How can I learn more about the software and its features?

TRAINING

How can I get software training? How can I learn how to use the software well?

Training is included with every license. It is only necessary to request it (by sending an email to info@irriworks.com ) and agree with the operator a date and time according to your availability.

What is the training?

During the training, the operator will support the user in some sample projects directly on their PC using remote assistance software (such as Teamviewer). The service has usually duration of 2 hours. Languages: English or Italian. The session be repeated for in-depth needs or replaced by a Q&A session.

How long does it take to learn how to use the software?

We highly recommend taking the training session, it is the first approach and the best way to get to know better Software. After this experience (about 2 hours), viewing the available videos and any requests for further assistance, it takes just a few weeks to achieve full mastery of the software.

UPDATES

How do I get updates?

The software checks for updates at every start. In case of availability, it will be shown a warning window where the user can confirm the installation of the update. Once the it is complete, the software will be restarted.

Until can I receive updates?

The updates will be available for the Lifetime license for 12 months. After this period, it will be possible to purchase an additional 12 months of updates (click HERE or HERE to purchase a new update license).

In the case of a subscription license, the updates will be available for the entire duration of the subscription.

What are the updates?

Software updates (both those available in the first 12 months and purchased with new licenses) may include new features, bug fixes and new catalogues (or updates of existing catalogues) of the irrigation material.

Can I add new items to the software database?

Yes, you can add emitters, driplines, fittings, filters and any element you want and use it in your projects.

Can I move the database with the items added in the software from one PC to another?

Yes, you can copy the folder called "irripro_db" from:

FOR WINDOWS:  C:\Documents and Settings\Name_User\irripro_db

oppure

FOR MAC: <user home>/irripro_db

and paste it (replacing the existing folder) in the same path inside the new PC.

How do I insert new items into the database?

A dedicated window for each type of product will guide the insertion of one item at a time. For a large number of items there is a different procedure (through a spreadsheet) which will be send you upon request. Write to info@irriworks.com to request more information.

ACCOUNTING

In case of purchase, will I receive a receipt or an invoice?

An invoice will always be issued with the data filled out during the purchase procedure. A courtesy invoice will be sent by email and the electronic invoice will be sent to the SDI system (Agenzia delle Entrate Italia).

Can I purchase a software license as a private individual and without having a VAT number?

Yes, of course, but the price will be increased by the VAT (+22%) to be paid in Italy in the case of a resident of a country in the EU area. For customers not resident in Europe, the cost of VAT is not added.

SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL ASPECTS

What are the operating limits of the software?

The software allows you to design and calculate systems with more than 5,000,000 nodes (number of emitter devices and fittings). This value can change according to the computing power of the computer

What uniformity coefficients are calculated by the software?

The software calculates two types of uniformity coefficients:

 

(Wu et Al. [1979])

 

 

 

Where Qi is the flow rate of a single emitter, Qm is the average value and N the number of emitters.

  • UCC = 100 the plant is excellent
  • UCC < 90 the plant is not acceptable

(Karmeli e Keller [1975])

 

 

Where CVT is the coefficient of technology variation Qmin, the minimum flow rate in an emitter and Qm the average flow rate.

  • CU = 100 the plant is excellent
  • 94 < CU < 100 the plant is good
  • 90 < CU < 94 the plant is acceptable
  • CU < 90 the plant is not acceptable

How is the efficiency of the system calculated?

The efficiency is defined by the following formula: Ei = qmin⁄qmed  * 100*A (where A is an internal factor, very complicated to explain which depending also from uniformity). Theorical value where qmin is the minimum of flow rate and qmed is the average value. The maximum value of efficiency in a drip plant is 87%, in a rain system 75%. The lower the value, the lower the efficiency. Wasted volume is zero if the efficiency is 100% (only theorical, you will have always a Wasted volume > 0)

What is the thematic map? What information can I evaluate?

The most restrictive criterion in the hydraulic calculation is the thematic map. The acceptability range is between -10% <average or nominal pressure <+ 10%, so the yellow area is still acceptable. An installation showing a thematic map without the red colour demonstrates a higher uniformity value than the uniformity coefficient> 90%.

What is discretization?

By discretization we mean the grouping of several emitters in one point to speed up the design and hydraulic calculation. For example, with very high discretization, the software will group 12 emitters in 1 single emitter having a flow rate 12 times higher than the single emitter. With this type of discretization in the bill of material there may be a difference of 2-5% in the length of the lateral pipes compared to the non-discretized case.

How to enter slopes and elevations manually?

The "elevation point" and “contour lines” commands are used to create 3D terrain model. For the elaboration, you must put a minimum number of 4 points but this number may increase according to the area size of the terrain. It is advisable to draw the borders of the areas before using this command. Once you have finished entering, press the ESC key and the software will show the elaborate contour lines and will show the third Z coordinate by scrolling with the mouse over the workspace. The "elevation point" and / or "contour lines" can be imported and interpreted by CAD files that contain them. The "Recalculate altitudes" is useful to perform the refresh or update of heights

How reliable is the survey with Google Earth/Maps within Software?

Depending on the area detected by the Google service the accuracy of the altimetric data varies from 3 arc-second (1 point detected every 90 meters) to 1/3 arc-second (1 point detected every 10 meters), up to reach 1 / 9 arc-seconds in the U.S. and in many urban areas (1 point detected every 3 meters). Processing elevation and planimetric returned in Software is equivalent to a 1:5000 cartography (as error on elevation) and the Google service gets better every day more. Remember that the Google GIS service is already used successfully by design programs of engineering and topographic maps.

Can the contour lines, once drawn, be modified?

It is not possible to modify or partially delete the contour lines (once imported and interpolated in the working area) because they constitute the 3D terrain survey. It is possible to delete or replace the survey (with new level curves) by making a new survey from the Google Maps console or by importing a CAD file with different level curves. It is also possible to use the UNDO and REDO commands to return to a previous or subsequent condition.

How the local losses of an emitter are calculated?

As the sum of the head losses between the source and the farthest emitter

The volume actually used in an hour less the volume used in ideal efficiency conditions

SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE REQUEST

How do I request support?

The support can be requested by sending an email to info@irriworks.com . In the request indicate the details of the issue, your serial code and any screenshots.

What kind of information can be useful for describing an assistance problem?

The following information:

  • The path / sequence of actions that caused the problem
  • One or more screenshots showing the unexpected behaviour
  • (requested by the assistance) the LOG folder of the software

More detailed this information is, the faster it will be to deal with the problem

What kind of support will I get once I have purchased the software license?

In addition to the availability of video guides and tutorials, the customer can receive, included in the license, the training and dedicated assistance of an operator for 12 months. The assistance can be extended for a further 12 months with the purchase of the upgrade license.

Where can I find the LOG folder of the software?

For WINDOWSC:\Documents and Settings\Name_User\”software_name”\logs

For MAC: <user home>/”software_name”/logs

The folder must be zipped before being sent

I’m not able to activate the software with the activation code. What can I do?

First of all, to activate, the PC must be connected to the internet and the software must not be blocked by a firewall. Furthermore, if the PC is located within a corporate or private network with Proxy, the Proxy feature must be set within the software. If these solutions have not brought any results, contact the assistance.

The Google Maps console and the survey don't seem to work, what does it depend on? How do I solve the issue?

Please write to info@irriworks.com describing what happens. We will send you a procedure to identify and address the problem. Our applications incorporate technology that depends on the Google service which can change requirements, terms of use or present temporary disruptions. Irriworks is not responsible for any changes or disservices.

After importing a KMZ / KML file, I cannot find in the software workspace the edges of the terrain / boundary or lines that had been drawn with Google Earth.

Solution: Draw objects / shapes in Google Earth with PATH function (Add> Path) not as Polygon, Model or other types of objects.

Is it possible to change the colour of the pipes shown on the software?

Is it necessary to run the software with administrator rights?

Yes, it is necessary because the software works in correct way.

What characteristics must the CAD file have to be imported?

  • File con estensione DXF che deve essere ASCII (raccomandato ASCII 2013)
  • Unità di disegno in metri
  • Le curve di livello devono avere la coordinata Z diversa da zero
  • I confini del terreno e dei settori devo essere poligoni/polilinee chiuse
